According to representatives of Boeing, the corporation is actively working to create a cargo drones with vertical take-off and landing with a carrying capacity of 225 kg.
The new drone is equipped with eight rotor screws, which rotate in opposite directions. Its dimensions (length, width, height) are 4.5 x 5.5 x 1.25 m, weight 340 kg. It was designed and built in just 3 months by a team of one of Horizon X.
The aircraft has already completed the first stage of testing in the laboratory of Boeing Research & Technology in Missouri. Currently, its remotely controlled version is used as a flying platform for developing autonomous technologies and electric drives. It will complement another passenger aircraft with vertical take-off and landing, which is developed by Boeing’s subsidiary, Aurora Flight Sciences.
