German manufacturer of sportswear and footwear reports on the readiness of the robot factory “Speedfactory” to launch at full capacity. Her cars, in the offline mode, begin to sew several models of running shoes, which will go on sale already on October 19 this year.
The intentions to create a factory for sewing shoes without working people, in contrast to the prospects of transferring production to Asian countries for the sake of its cheaper, in Adidas began talking at the end of 2015. For a year and a half, debugged the process to a level where it’s not a shame to show the result to the consumer. At first, the robot factory will produce sports shoes from the series “Adidas Made For” (AM4).
In this series, six models of shoes are presented, which are designed taking into account the peculiarities of life in the starting six mega-cities of the planet. Manufacture of footwear is entrusted to robots from the series Futurecraft MFG, little-known to the general public. They use 3D printing technologies and sew footwear according to patterns for a particular client, taking into account its anatomical features. Approximately, this will look like “manual work” in the 21st century, taking into account the ubiquitous robotization of work processes . Adidas simply takes the niche among the first and will soon launch a second similar robot factory in Atlanta.
