What motorist does not like fast driving? Especially if the real risk is excluded, and the race track competition takes place in a virtual environment, but with the maximum immersion effect. The question is provocative, but the second one should be added to it – and how much are you willing to pay for this pleasure? The answer is not so obvious, and the online edition of WTF1 tried to figure out what the developers of the racing simulators are offering to pay for.
For a simple, reasonable price within one-and-a-half thousand US dollars, you can get a steering column and software for your computer, which perfectly reflects the process of controlling the racing car. But this is on a modest home monitor with its avaricious diagonal, while the $ 1.3 million auto simulator literally surrounds the gamer from three sides with a wall of displays. You can lift your head to see the ceiling of the room, but only – the entire visual component entirely imitates the view from the car’s cockpit.
And not only the form – the player sits not on the chair, but in the model of the racing car, in a chair with an anatomical structure, puts on a real helmet. The drive is attached to the latter, which will cause your head to deviate to the side, as if entering the turn, when the centrifugal force is pressed against it by several “same” ones. The steering wheel will also be torn from the hands – the feedback in this auto simulator is realized at the highest level.
The driving characteristics of the car are adjusted depending on whether you decided to ride on a virtual analogue of a real model of a sports car.
